I have always been captivated with ancient art history, especially during an era in which writing poetry, architectural building, and art brings history to life. During my reading what I found very interesting was the burial mound of Quin Shihuangdi. The First Emperor of China who had adopted a political philosophy called Legalism that supported rules and harsh punishments in order to enforce the authority of the state.  Legalism in ancient China was a way of creating an interconnection between Government and people in order to help the welfare of its country and the happiness of his people. Legalism was sought to achieve victory in order to unify its domain and who believed that laws were meant to achieve happiness. Although legalism was to create an interconnection between Government and people Shihuangdi also imposed a uniform system, measures, and currency, and the written form of Chinese language, and policies which did not last long, and soon collapsed after his death.

Although during his legacy there were many symbol that bear witness to centralism such as the Great Wall designed to keep out northern barbarians. Then we have his world famous achievement is the Terracotta Warriors and Horses in Xian.  Qin Shi Huang longed for longevity and believed that after his death he would rule forever over his vast sphere in spirit amongst the living.

What advantages and disadvantages can we find during China’s Qin dynasty empire?
